Nick joined Allan Janes from a major City law firm, Taylor Wessing, where he gained extensive experience in banking, property and commercial property transactions.
Since joining Allan Janes he has acted in a number of notable transactions. In his corporate role he has advised on the financial restructure of a major tooling company and its subsequent disposal for £15.5 million, set up a share option scheme for the employees of a major recruitment business and negotiated commercial contracts for the provision of irradiated sources to the value of $11.2 million.
In the commercial property and banking sector Nick has acted for a number of commercial lenders including a £12 million refinancing package for a private property portfolio, advised on the disposal of a substantial site to Multiplex to allow for the construction of a major part of the High Wycombe town centre redevelopment scheme, and acted for developers in the conversion of a derelict commercial mill to 56 luxury apartments in a deal worth approximately £14 million.
Nick has also recently acted in the disposal of a waste processing facility and he acted for investors in the acquisition of a commercial industrial estate and disposal of a significant factory site, in addition to continuing to act for the small investor/SIPP.
Nick is a keen sportsman and when he is not cycling, playing racket sports or shooting he enjoys participating in historic FIA motor sport events in his 1965 MGB. Nick is also the firm’s managing partner – a role he took on in 2005.

Clive is Head of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department and specialises in all forms of commercial litigation. Prior to joining Allan Janes he was a Partner, and Head of Litigation in a Grays Inn firm in WC1. There he acted for National and International clients, including the AA, Exxon Mobil, Protim and Sainsburys.
More recently at Allan Janes his caseload has included:-
•Obtaining a world wide freezing injunction against a former finance director of a client company who had embezzled over £1/2 million.
•Successfully defending an Inheritance Act claim of £2 million brought against a national charity
•Successfully prosecuting an injunction action against an employee who had absconded with client lists and documentation belonging to the employer firm
•Injuncting a party, by way of freezing injunction, who was attempting to transfer monies out of the jurisdiction to Australia
•Injuncting a landlord to prevent an increase in rental payments on a commercial lease on a rent review from £40,000 to £670,000
Clive is also an experienced employment lawyer, acting on behalf of both employers and employees in all aspects of employment law. He has recently completed a two week hearing in the Tribunal where he successfully defended our client from a sexual discrimination claim, where the damages claimed exceeded £1/4 million.
Clive takes a keen interest in local affairs. A keen sportsman, Clive’s leisure time is thinly divided between tennis, golf, mountain biking and mountain walking, supporting Wasps and encouraging his children to do all of the above.

More about Peter
Peter is a Partner and head of the Commercial and Property Department. He specialises in residential site acquisition and development and associated planning work. Peter also deals with substantial investment matters.
He has advised the Firm’s developer clients on sites throughout England and has acted for many landowners in their disposals to developers. Notable transactions include a £13.75 million site assembly and purchase in Hertfordshire and disposal of a redundant business premises for re-development at a value of £7.1 million.
He acts for a number of local authorities and was lead Partner in the transfer of the leisure property portfolios of the London Borough of Bromley, South Lakeland District Council and Trafford Borough Council to non-profit distribution organisations.
Other recent transactions that Peter has handled include options for a green belt development of 43 dwellings, acquisition and planning agreements for multiple brownfield residential sites, the £9 million acquisition for an investment client of a waste transfer depot, a new maintenance and access lease for 104 owners on a private residential estate, leasehold enfranchisement acquisitions in separate locations for blocks comprising 34 lessees, surrender and re-grant of leases of 34 apartments within a sheltered accommodation development, a residential development option for an independent school and a £4.25 million acquisition and disposal of a town centre residential site.
Peter plays for two cricket teams, trains gundogs and is a keen equestrian.

Iwan has over twenty years’ experience of advising on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, first with City firm Norton Rose and, subsequently, at the PricewaterhouseCoopers law firm, Landwell.
Iwan has advised management teams and shareholders on buy-outs, mergers and acquisition, joint ventures, partnership and shareholder agreements, and has extensive experience advising both private and public companies and partnerships on general corporate matters and commercial agreements.
Outside work, Iwan is a keen rugby supporter and enjoys passing on his limited knowledge of football and cricket to his sons.

More about Alex
Alex is the head of our Private Client Department and moved here from a regional firm in Oxford. Alex studied law at Reading University and completed the Legal Practice Course and his training in Oxford.
Alex deals with all aspects of tax and estate planning including Wills, Lifetime Trusts, Probate and Powers of Attorney. Alex is also able to assist when an application needs to be made to the Court of Protection for those who have lost the capacity to manage their own affairs. Alex has particular expertise dealing with issues of cross border estate and tax planning. He also advises clients, who have committed historical tax frauds, on the process of making these good under contractual disclosure facilities.
Notable instructions include the administration of estates involving the gathering in of substantial assets in Germany, South Africa, Hong Kong, The Channel Islands, Australia and America. This has included making applications in foreign Courts for local grants of representation and to re-seal UK grants. It has also involved the conclusion of income and capital tax affairs in overseas jurisdictions.
Alex regularly draws up estate plans for clients with complex business and personal affairs, who often require flexible and long term solutions for wealth management and succession.
Alex is a member of The Society of Estate Practitioners (STEP), having completed its examinations in July 2014.
Outside work Alex enjoys cycling, drumming (when the neighbours are away), and going to the theatre. On a Wednesday evening Alex can be seen dancing with the Oxford City Morris Men.

Richard is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives having taken units in civil litigation, contract and tort and is a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department specialising in personal injury and civil litigation including landlord and tenant and commercial disputes.
He has over 15 years of experience in civil litigation and personal injury litigation in the High Court and County Courts and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). APIL has accredited Richard as a Senior Litigator.
He practises within the litigation group specifically addressing:-
•Contractual and commercial disputes covering the supply and sale of goods and services;
•Landlord and Tenant disputes, commercial and residential including possession, dilapidations and rent arrears, commercial Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 disputes, break notices, notices of determination of term, s.25 & s.26 advice;

• A successful Professional Negligence claim against a law firm for loss of chance.
• RTA pedestrian who suffered shoulder injury causing permanent neuropathic pain, settled before Trial for a sum exceeding one million pounds.
• RTA claimant suffered back injury causing facet joint irritation, settled for a substantial figure.
• Workplace accident where Claimant suffered multiple fractures, settled for £200,000 before Trial.
• Dispute for price of services rendered where a customer failed to pay their fees where Summary Judgment was entered for £100,000

More about Charlotte
Charlotte joined the firm initially as a paralegal in 2013 before completing her Law Degree and Legal Practice Course and re-joining us as a Trainee Solicitor in 2016. She has recently qualified and will join the Litigation and Employment department on 2nd January 2018. Charlotte has already gained a wealth of experience in a variety of high profile cases, assisting with:-
– A complex professional negligence claim;
– A multi-million pound partnership dispute;
– A high value and technical contract dispute;
– A five day disability discrimination claim in the Employment Tribunal;
– Drafting senior employment contracts and staff handbooks;
– Advising employers (from small companies to multinational organisations) on a range of employment matters;

Charlotte is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
In her free time Charlotte enjoys going to the theatre and travelling. She is also an enthusiastic cook, despite her varying levels of success in the kitchen.

More about Sneh
Sneh studied Law at Queen Mary, University of London and completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London.
Sneh commenced her Training Contract in December 2016 and qualified as a Solicitor on 6th June 2018. She advises on a range of property transactions with a focus on commercial real estate. In particular, she deals with the drafting and negotiation of:
• Sale and Purchase Agreements;
• New Leases;
• Lease renewals;
• Lease assignments;
• Lease surrenders;
• Licences; and
• Commercial Mortgages and re-financing.
She also has experience in dealing with sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold residential properties, transfers of equity, re-mortgages and new build transactions.
Sneh enjoys working for a diverse range of clients and has acted for property companies, pension funds, high-net worth individuals, small businesses and corporate occupiers. She strives to give her clients clear, pragmatic and commercial advice to help them achieve their goals in a cost effective and efficient manner in line with their needs.
Having lived in the Caribbean, India and England, Sneh loves travelling and learning about different cultures and new languages. In her free time, she keeps fit by doing yoga and (tries) to bank her ‘10,000 steps a day’

Before joining the firm, Pippa worked in the property industry, dealing with residential lettings and property management. She is training to become a Legal Executive specialising in commercial and residential conveyancing.
Pippa assists the Partners within the Commercial and Property department with commercial, development and residential matters.
In her spare time Pippa will often be found attempting DIY, or aerial dancing, and likes to go surfing or snowboarding when she can.
