Nick joined Allan Janes from a major City law firm, Taylor Wessing, where he gained extensive experience in banking, property and commercial property transactions.
Since joining Allan Janes he has acted in a number of notable transactions. In his corporate role he has advised on the financial restructure of a major tooling company and its subsequent disposal for £15.5 million, set up a share option scheme for the employees of a major recruitment business and negotiated commercial contracts for the provision of irradiated sources to the value of $11.2 million.
In the commercial property and banking sector Nick has acted for a number of commercial lenders including a £12 million refinancing package for a private property portfolio, advised on the disposal of a substantial site to allow for the construction of a major part of the Eden Centre High Wycombe redevelopment scheme, and acted for private investors on the acquisition of several industrial estates for the investment market. Nick has also recently acted in the disposal of a waste processing facility and he acted for investors in the acquisition of a commercial industrial estate and disposal of a significant factory site in the Midlands.
Nick’s commercial property work is by no means limited to large acquisitions and disposals and indeed much of his daily work involves the disposal, acquisition and leasing of commercial premises by owner managed businesses and SME’s and a significant amount of acquisition and disposal for private pensions funds. Nick is very much used to working in the landlord and tenant sector and has an ability to see the bigger commercial picture particularly when acting for owner managed businesses where costs are always a key consideration.
Nick is a keen sportsman and when he is not cycling, playing racket sports or shooting he enjoys participating in historic FIA motor sport events in his 1965 MGB. Nick is also the firm’s managing partner – a role he took on in 2005.
