The Dispute Resolution team led by Toby Walker at Allan Janes LLP, has secured a settlement for a business client against a major UK bank.
An employee of the bank had, on the bank’s letterhead, sent communications to third parties and in which they cast aspersions on our clients’ ability to pay debts as they fell due and which caused our clients reputational damage.
Once the claim and complaint was set out, the team at Allan Janes negotiated a full apology from the bank, together with an agreed letter retracting the defamatory statements, and negotiated compensation for the damage to reputation. The apology from the bank included that the employee in question sending the correspondence amounted to an abuse of their position. The clients’ full legal costs were also recovered in full.
