Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (“CRPS”)

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (“CRPS”), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy is a long-term pain syndrome, which can be caused by what could be a minor accident.  It normally results in severe pain out of proportion to the original injury and may be accompanied by sensitivity, swelling and changes in the skin.  It may initially only affect one limb but can spread.  It is a recognised condition but is difficult to treat. Treatment involves a multidisciplinary approach, pain management experts, physical and occupational therapy.
