The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has today announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme or 'furough scheme' will be extended until October 2020.
It has been confirmed that no changes will be made until the end of July 2020 with employees continuing to recieve 80% of their salary up to the cap of £2,500 per month. Thereafter, he said the government will ask companies to "start sharing" the cost of the scheme from August onwards. It is expected that this will mean staff returning to work part time and being partially subsidised by the Government.
